SYNOPSIS OF SLOTS LEGISLATION
Prepared by Bruce C. Spizler, Senior Assistant Attorney General and Counsel to the Maryland Racing Commission. The following is a summary of legislation approved in the November 2007 special session of the Maryland General Assembly.
The slots program called for in this legislation will take effect if approved by voters in a statewide referendum in November 2008.

Dicey D J wins Hookedonthefeelin Stakes
Dicey D J took command entering the stretch in the $50,000 Hookedonthefeelin Stakes on May 3 at Pimlico and drove to an authoritative three-length score as 0.9-1 favorite in the five-furlong turf event for Maryland-bred 3-year-old fillies. (more)

Lexi Star shines in Geisha Stakes
After appearing a beaten horse with a quarter of a mile to the finish line, Stephen Quick’s homebred Lexi Star passed the leaders in the final jump to win the $60,000 Geisha Stakes for Maryland-bred fillies and mares on April 19, opening Saturday of the Pimlico spring meet. (more)
